Chicago chef Homaro Cantu has always been known for his whiplash blend of science and culinary art. But his latest mad scientist concept may be his most intriguing yet. Over the holiday weekend, when the rest of us were getting our beach on, the overachieving Cantu posted on his Facebook page "Todays crazy idea of the day! Let's start growing our own in house French Perigord Truffles. Why not? They cost 1,000.00 per pound and we have an indoor farm that can create the perfect growing conditions." He linked to the above video to show the farm. Details on how exactly he plans to accomplish air grown truffles are scant but if anyone can do it, our money is on Cantu.
