Mint Juleps are the traditional cocktail served at the Kentucky Derby, but you don't have to limit your consumption to just the one day a year. The Mint Julep first appeared in print in 1803 and was described as a "dram of spirituous liquor that has mint in it, taken by Virginians in the morning." Smart people those Virginians. The mixture of whiskey and mint poured over cracked ice is a great summer drink, so think of today as the kickoff to julep season. To give you inspiration, we turned to some of our friends and favorite bartenders at New York City's Añejo, Blue Smoke, Print Restaurant, RedFarm's Decoy, and elm restaurant in New Canaan, CT for their new takes on the classic sip.
