Barnes & Nobles Adding More Kitchen Concepts

In an effort to develop a full-service restaurant concept in their stores, Barnes & Noble Inc. is expanding and will be opening a fourth location this week in Plano, Texas. It will be a huge new store in the Legacy West development. This unit follows earlier Barnes & Noble Kitchen openings in Folsom, Calif., Scarsdale, N.Y., and Edina, Minn.

The Kitchen concepts will be "a comfortable environment for customers to browse and buy", the company said. They are among a group of retailers that are providing more of an enhanced experience for their customers due to an increase in competition from online sales. One example is New York based Tiffany & Co., which recently opened a restaurant at it's flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City.

Barne's & Noble's restaurant menu will range from appetizers and salads, to entrees, sharing plates and desserts. Specialty coffees and other drinks will also be available. Prices will range from $14 to $22.
