The image above was taken in Langhirano near Parma. To be real deal Prosciutto di Parma, the ham must be within 29 sq km (11.2 sq mile) around the town of Parma (in the region of Emilia Romagna, north of Tuscany). Pretty small area considering 10 million of them are sold every year. Roughly 2 million are exported- mostly to France, the US and Germany.
