This provocatively monikered McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon hails from the acclaimed Australian winery Two Hands. Founded in 1999, Two Hands was established with the aim of showcasing the diversity of Australian Shiraz by highlighting the regional differences and characteristics. Robert Parker proclaimed Two Hands as “...the finest negociant operation south of the equator...” for their nuanced Shiraz as well as their Grenache, Cabernets, and Semillions.
The name Two Hands refers to the intimate and hands on winemaking philosophy and practices, while the handle Sexy Beast marks this wine as part of the winery’s Picture series. The irreverent, saucy name and $30 price tag make this tier more affordable and approachable that the Single Vineyard and Garden Series, but these are still well crafted, premium wines.
Aged in 12 percent new oak, Two Hands, Sexy Beast 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is fresh and vital, with big aromas of red currant, cassis, licorice, with hints of herbs. Great body, with soft tannins and a slight deep chocolaty twist. It's a great choice for Summer grilling season.
