"So the ways the bankers have kind of toppled the way money is distributed and taken most of it into their hands is as good as Stalin or Hitler and the evil guys … [T]heir evil has had a huge effect on the world." -Forbes writer quoting Mario Batali "verbatim" at the Time Magazine Person of the Year panel.
As you can imagine, a large percentage of Mario's clientele happen to be in the financial industry. They aren't taking the comment lightly and now the whole scenario is playing out as a bit of an extreme lesson for anyone who has to deal with customers (though despite the 'boycott' it's still difficult to get a rezzy at any Batali restaurants right now).
While bankers may be a far cry from the true evil of Stalin or Hitler, one Morgan Stanley trader tweeted "Good luck with your $300 white truffle tasting menu among the 99%" to remind the rest of us where Batali was coming from in the first place.
