Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants

Last week Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, the annual list sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, was announced during a ceremony at Mexico City's Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso museum of culture and arts. The countries covered by the award include Argentina, Bahamas, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, French Guyana, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, and Venezuela. For the second year in a row Lima's Central, run by husband and wife team Virgílio Martínez and Pía León, took the top spot. Astrid Gutsche, a behind the scenes force behind the restaurant empire built with her husband Gastón Acurio's, received Latin America’s Best Pastry Chef Award 2015. Mexican culinary icon Enrique Olvera was awarded The Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award - Latin America 2015. Roberta Sudbrack of Roberta Sudbrack in Rio de Janeiro got the nod as Veuve Clicquot Latin America’s Best Female Chef 2015 and the Chefs’ Choice Award 2015, sponsored by Modelo, went to Rodolfo Guzmán of Boragó in Santiago, Chile.
