How to Map Your Broiler

Cook's Illustrated has an excellent method for spotting the hotspots under your broiler/salamander; just use white bread. Fill a sheet tray or half sheet tray with slices of white bread, then pop them under the broiler for a detailed map of the hot and cool spots.
