Any server can tell you that dividing separate checks for large parties can put a waitron in the weeds. Now technology is coming to the rescue with multiple programs that allow money transfers in the dining room via cellphone. Many companies offer small credit card readers that actually attach to cellphones, and while many restaurant diners probably won't have it in their pocket, PayPal offers a
mobile app that only requires users to bump their phones together to transfer funds.
Next time you're out dining and feel guilty requesting separate checks, you can hand the bill to one person in your party & instantly transfer them the amount you owe. Admittedly it'll be a long time before this becomes common practice (if it becomes common practice), but front of the house can always hope.
