100+ Year Old Whiskey Recovered at the South Pole

The BBC reports that five crates of Ernest Shackleton's whisky have been recovered from his 1908 Antarctic research hut. The whiskey was discovered more than three years ago, but as some of the bottles had cracked with ice forming inside, they were extremely precarious to remove. Richard Paterson, whose company supplied the original Shackleton expedition's whiskey, will analyze the recently recovered booze & try to replicate the original blend.
The whiskey was recovered by the New Zealand Antarctic Heritage Trust, who were more than surprised to find five cases in total after believing there were only two hidden in the ice. What a find!
