FDA Wants "Serving Sizes" To Be Realistic (finally)

The New York Times reports that the FDA is looking to pressure food manufacturers into using realistic Serving Size portions when listing nutritional information on food packages. Most of the nutritional information listed on a package of food is relative to the number of portions per package, so the FDA points out that that the information can mislead consumers into wolfing down far more calories than they know.

They are hoping to make the information easier to understand before working to have the info posted on the front of food packaging-another major change in the status quo of nutritional information.
