Eater has announced their list of America's 38 Essential Restaurants for 2017. They range from bistros and steakhouses to pizzerias and taco trucks. This year, eight restaurants from the original list from 2015 remain and 18 newcomers have been added to the ranks.
Restaurants are not only chosen for their excellent dishes, but also for their community purpose and exceptional hospitality. A "restaurant of the year" was also honored and is from the timeless town of Savannah. All establishments must be at least 18 months old to qualify. Some of the restaurants on the list are up and coming, while others have been around for quite some time and are thought of as tried and true "classics".
