This week's Friday Happy Hour cocktail comes from Ranjini Bose of Seamstress, Pamela Wiznitzer’s new Upper East Side cocktail den. Ranjini uses a lot of culinary inspirations when creating her cocktails, often looking at dessert recipes or exploring the flavor profiles of curries. The Eastside Story takes inspiration from the local ingredients of New York City. Featuring Sichuan-infused Grey Goose vodka and horseradish, Eastside Story's locally inspired ingredients give a new meaning to cocktail with a kick.
2 oz Sichuan-pepper-infused GREY GOOSE vodka
.5 oz Meletti Amaro
1 spoon horseradish
.5 oz lemon juice
.5 oz chamomile syrup
Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Shake vigorously with ice and strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with crushed/ground Sichuan Peppercorn.
Recently, Ranjini was featured in an episode of “Local Flight” — a 12-episode series where host Shawn Thomas travels across the country, introducing the audience to innovative mixologists creating cool cocktails while exploring the origins of each city's signature flavor.
Watch Ranjini talk about her inspirations, source cool ingredients, and mix up some cocktails including an apricot and walnut oil inflected spin on a 50/50 she calls My Fair Lady, and an Eastside Story in this episode:
