Cooking District would like to offer our heartfelt congratulations to international spice maven Lior Lev Sercarz for being the subject of a recent feature article in the
New York Times Magazine.
Having featured his transporting catalogue of spice mixes here for years, we're well aware of his unrivaled talents and enthusiastically applaud the well deserved attention he's recieved. The story comes on the heels of yet another honor, for
in 2012 Lev Sercarz was named a Tastemaker of the year by Bon Appetit. The kudos combined not only bring brilliant exposure but shed light on the transporting talents of this heretofore unheralded craftsman. Talents, however, that have not escaped the eye, nose and mouth of some of the world's most discerning chefs. Eric Ripert, Paul Liebrandt and Marc Forgione are just a few who sing his praises. If you haven't experienced his spice mixes,
you know where to get them. You can also meet him tonight at the Rubin Museum of Art at 7pm, where he'll chat with Scientist Donald Wilson about the sense of smell and the memories they can create. From the Israeli army to the Michelin starred Les Maisons de Brincourt in Cancale, from Daniel on 65th Street in NYC to his own unique spice emporium on Ninth Ave, Lev Sercarz has stood for the highest standards. Thanks to the recent acclaim, today he stands a little taller.
