Step 1
1 1/2 lb • Lean ground beef
1 • Medium onion • diced
1/4 tsp • Garlic powder
Brown ground beef, onions and garlic powder in large stockpot. Drain excess fat, if necessary.
Step 2
1 • can (14 1/2 ounces) whole tomatoes with juice
8 oz • Tomato sauce
8 oz • Mushrooms
1/2 cup • Olives
1/2 cup • Celery • diced
1 • Green bell pepper • diced
1 1/2 tbsp • Chili powder
1/8 tsp • Ground red pepper
1 tbsp • Sugar
1 • Beef bouillon cube
1/2 cup • California raisins
1 • Bay leaf
2 • Cloves
1 • can (15 ounces) kidney beans • drained
Add remaining ingredients except kidney beans, including bay leaf and cloves in a tea basket or cheesecloth for easy removal. Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Stir in kidney beans and heat through. Remove bay leaf and cloves; adjust seasonings and serve in crocks or bowls.
