Samsa - Sweet Walnut Fritters

Step 1
6 oz walnuts • pulverized
1.5 tbsp unsalted butter • soft
1.5 tbsp sugar
Filling: Mix all ingredients together and set aside at room temperature.
Step 2
2 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup cold water
.5 tsp salt
4 tbsp unsalted butter, soft
Make a well in the flour and pour in water, salt, and 2 TBSP of butter. Mix well until firm dough is formed.
Step 3
Roll out dough to 16" by 18" and brush with remaining butter. Fold the dough into quarters. Roll out dough again to 16" by 18". Trim sides and cut into 2"squares.
Step 4
Assembly: place 1 TBSP of filling into center of square. Use water to moisten edges and seal. Fry in hot vegetable oil, drain, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
